Google Now Allows You to Leave an Anonymous Google Review

You are now able to leave an anonymous Google review by providing a display name instead of your actual name. If you have wanted to leave a review about your experience with Dr. Champagne but have hesitated because of concerns about anonymity, this guide will walk you through exactly how to leave a Google review without attaching your real name.

Can You Leave An Anonymous Google Review?
Yes. As of November 2025, Google allows users of its review system to leave an anonymous Google review by providing a custom display name instead of using your actual name.

This is technically not anonymous but rather a pseudonym, as your Google account will still be tied to the review. To everyone outside of Google, however, it will simply be visible as “Satisfied Client” or another chosen nickname instead of your actual name.

Why Google Now Allows Anonymous Google Reviews
Google has recognized the fact that many individuals who have had legitimate experiences have chosen not to share them because of concerns about publicly attaching their name to a specific product or service. This is particularly true of individuals who have sought the services of attorneys, physicians, therapists, or other professional individuals who provide sensitive services.

This feature of anonymous Google reviews helps alleviate concerns about sharing personal legal issues publicly.

How To Leave An Anonymous Review

Step 1: Open Google Maps App
Open the Google Maps application on your mobile device. Ensure that you have a Google account that you wish to utilize for the review. Note that this feature is currently only available for non-business Gmail accounts.

Step 2: Access Your Profile
Access your profile from the Google Maps application. To do this, tap the profile icon in the upper right corner of the screen. From the dropdown menu, tap “Your profile.”

Step 3: Edit Your Profile Settings
Tap “Edit profile” to modify your public Google profile settings. Scroll down the page to the “Use a custom name and picture for posting.”

Step 4: Create Your Alias
Toggle the switch next to the “Use a custom name and picture for posting” option. In the space provided, type the name that you wish to be displayed when you write a Google review. This name should be a nickname, alias, or a generic name like “Texas Client” or “Fort Worth Resident.”

Step 5: Save and Leave Your Review
Save your changes. Next, search for the name “Varghese Summersett” on Google Maps. Select our business profile from the search results. Tap “Write a review” from the dropdown menu. Your review will be displayed under your alias name instead of your real name.

What If You Don’t See the Alias Option?
Google first announced the alias feature in November 2025. This feature is currently being rolled out gradually. If you do not see the “Use a custom name and picture for posting” option, consider the following:

Firstly, make sure your Google Maps app is updated to the latest version. Check the App Store or Google Play Store for app updates. Secondly, try accessing your account via the Google Maps website, as some features might be available there before they’re rolled out to the app. Thirdly, wait for a few days before checking your account. Major feature rollouts take a few weeks to happen.

Do Anonymous Google Reviews Still Count?
The answer is a resounding yes. Anonymous Google reviews have the same value as those written under a real name. Google’s search engine algorithm treats pseudonymous reviews the same as those from users who reveal their identities. Both types of reviews have equal value for a business’s rating and search results ranking.

Your review will still go through Google’s standard review verification process. The difference lies only in what other users think when they read your review.
